PATRICIA W. IVRYDIRECTOR, EXECUTIVE FORUMPROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY Patti Ivry has spent all of her professional life working with non-profit organizations. She has served as; a staff member in a large community based neighborhood association, an executive in an advocacy organization, a board/committee member for several non-profits, a founding member of a new non-profit, a consultant to non-profits, a funder through foundation work, and a professor of non-profit management courses. Thus, she understands the strengths and struggles from all sides of non-profits. In addition to her professional practice and volunteer experience, Patti Ivry has been a Professor of Social Work at Western Connecticut State University for the past 25 years. She was selected to serve on a National Commission for determining educational policy for the profession, is a consulting editor to two professional journals, a frequent reviewer of text books, and is well published herself. Professor Ivry has spent most of her life living and working in Connecticut. She also has had opportunities to attend college and graduate school in Baltimore, take two sabbaticals; one in Berkeley, California and one in Vancouver, British Columbia. In all three venues, she spent time learning their respective non-profit sectors. Thus, she brings both a strong sense of community and offers a wide basis of comparison. Professor Ivry is knowledgeable about, sensitive to, and a strong advocate for the non-profit sector. She brings energy, skill and passion to her work with the Executive Forum. |
